It connects our neighbors who can’t easily get out to stores with local businesses through a simple online catalog and a volunteer delivery service. It's like having all the stores in the city available at the click of a button.
Harrisburg Shopping all started with a homebound neighbor who knew firsthand how hard it can be to get everyday essentials when mobility is limited. For the past few years, we've operated a little known by word-of-mouth volunteer delivery network, helping hundreds of homebound neighbors in Harrisburg with essentials like groceries, prescriptions, and even that one lightbulb they really needed—neighbors helping neighbors. Now, with the launch of the Harrisburg Shopping website, we want that same care and community to be available to more people across the city.
And the delivery drivers? They’re just good people. The same ones who drop off your grandmother’s prescriptions or your dad’s batteries. Many are church members. Some are college students. Most are regular hard working people, some working 12 hour shifts. All of them are volunteers—showing up not for a paycheck, but because they care.
Harrisburg Shopping is about making life a little easier, keeping folks connected and independent, and supporting the small businesses that make this community feel like home.
