Harrisburg Shopping does not license vendors. We are merely a third-party platform facilitating sales of your products. It is your responsibility to obtain and maintain all required licenses, collect and pay sales taxes, and comply with all federal, state, and local laws. Use this guide to help you stay legal and avoid trouble. |
| 1. Register Your Business in Pennsylvania |
| • Visit the PA Department of State's Business Filing Services to register your entity (LLC, corp, etc.): pa.gov – Business Registration • You can use the state's "Open for Business Registration Interview (OBRI)" tool to streamline the process across departments. |
| 2. Obtain City Business & Vendor Licenses in Harrisburg |

| 3. Building, Health & Food Permits |

| 4. Retail Food Facility License (Restaurants, Shops, Market Stands) |
| • Required for food vendors like restaurants, delis, grocery stores, and farmers market stands. • Apply by emailing RA‑AGPLANREVIEW@pa.gov or mailing to: PDA, Bureau of Food Safety & Laboratory Services, Attn: Plan Review 2301 N. Cameron St, Room 112, Harrisburg, PA 17110 Fax: 717‑787‑1873 • After plan approval (~15 business days), your facility is inspected, licensed, and fees collected. |
| 5. Farmers Market Vendor Licensing |
| • Each market stall needs its own Retail Food License—even within the same market. • Submit application to PDA, same as above, at least 60 days before opening. • Exemptions may apply if you sell only raw farm products or prepackaged non‑hazardous items. |
| 6. Register for Pennsylvania Sales Tax |
| • Use the myPATH portal to register for sales & use tax collection and submission. • Even if your sales are seasonal or small, you must remain compliant with filings (even if $0). |
| 7. Renewals & Staying Compliant |
| • Retail Food Licenses renew annually—PDA sends reminders about 45 days before expiration (fee ~$82). • Farmers market licenses must also be renewed each year via PDA's online system. |
