Equality in Sales
Harrisburg, PA has a well-known "Good Ol' Boys" problem. They gatekeep who can sell, what they can sell, where and when. For them, it's more about who you know than what you sell. If they don't like you, it doesn't matter what you sell. You're "not allowed".
Harrisburg Shopping takes all of their power away.
Accepted vs. "Curated" (A bad thing)
Open Access: Unlike many Harrisburg events that use a "curated" selection process—where the "Good Ol' Boys" club decides who "fits" (are they our friend?)—Harrisburg Shopping allows any vendor within a 20-mile radius of the city to open a shop immediately and for free.Harrisburg Shopping is for the 99% of creators who don't have the 'right' friends.
We don't need the "VIP club" to tell us who's "good enough"; the people of Harrisburg will decide.
NO PAY TO PLAY
No Upfront "Booth Rent": Some "curated" markets require upfront fees (up to $60 per event). If a vendor doesn't sell anything, they lose money. Harrisburg Shopping charges 0% in upfront listing fees and only takes a 14% commission on actual sales. This is an all-inclusive commission, paying billing fees, etc. You shouldn't have to pay before you are even able to sell. Unlike the "Good Ol' Boys" club, we don't pre-take your money from you. We only make money if you make money.Stop paying for the privilege of selling in a parking lot.
Inclusive Mission for the Vulnerable
Serving the Homebound: Harrisburg Shopping’s origin is rooted in helping homebound neighbors. This community-first focus shifts the power away from high-end "boutique" culture toward a model of utility and neighborly support.Accessible Design: Harrisburg Shopping is specifically built for accessibility (high-contrast, large-font Atkinson Hyper-Legible), ensuring that both vendors and shoppers with disabilities are not excluded from the local economy.
Finally...
When you hear people complain about Harrisburg Shopping, it’s important to look at who is doing the talking. Usually, the loudest complaints come from the "Good Ol' Boys" club (or their friends)—the gatekeepers who have spent years deciding who gets to succeed and who gets passed over. They're afraid of Harrisburg Shopping because we've taken all of their power away and given it to YOU!
