At Harrisburg Shopping, the safety and well-being of our homebound neighbors is our top priority. Because our delivery volunteers interact directly with vulnerable individuals—such as seniors, people with disabilities, and those living alone—we require a background check as part of our onboarding process.

You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer as a delivery driver for Harrisburg Shopping.

By signing up, you acknowledge and consent to the following:

A nationwide criminal background check (all 50 states)
A valid driver’s license verification
A driving record/background review

These checks are conducted confidentially and respectfully, and they help us ensure the safety and trust our community depends on.

We know that volunteering is an act of kindness—and this step simply helps us match that kindness with responsibility. Thank you for understanding and for being part of a volunteer network that our homebound neighbors can count on.

Photo & Document Upload Requirements

As part of our commitment to keeping our homebound neighbors safe and secure, we kindly ask all delivery volunteers to submit the following documents and photos:

Required Uploads:

A clear photo of yourself (Volunteer ID Badge)
Your valid driver’s license (front and back)
A side view photo of your vehicle (to help us verify vehicles making deliveries)

These images help us confirm identities, maintain accurate volunteer records, and offer peace of mind to our homebound neighbors we serve.

By signing up as a Volunteer Delivery Driver with Harrisburg Shopping, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Volunteer Status

You understand and agree that you are participating as a volunteer and not as an employee, contractor, or agent of Harrisburg Shopping. This role is unpaid and offered in the spirit of community service.

2. Insurance & Liability

Harrisburg Shopping does not provide automobile insurance, liability insurance, medical coverage, or compensation for injuries, accidents, or property damage.

You agree to maintain your own valid vehicle insurance that complies with Pennsylvania’s legal requirements.

You are solely responsible for your vehicle’s maintenance, repairs, fuel, and all operating costs.

3. Legal Compliance

You confirm that:

You hold a valid driver’s license.

Your vehicle is legally registered and meets all local, state, and federal requirements for safe operation.

You will comply with all applicable traffic laws and regulations while performing delivery duties.

4. Technology Requirements

To volunteer as a delivery driver, you must:

Download and install the Harrisburg Shopping Delivery Driver App

Use the app to view routes, track deliveries, and communicate with our team

Maintain access to a smartphone with internet and location services enabled

The app is essential for route safety, accountability, and efficient coordination with our homebound customers.

5. Assumption of Risk

You understand that volunteering as a delivery driver may involve certain risks, including but not limited to driving, lifting, or entering unfamiliar environments. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with your participation.

6. No Reimbursement or Compensation

You acknowledge that Harrisburg Shopping:

Will not reimburse gas, mileage, tolls, parking, or any transportation costs.

Is not responsible for vehicle damage, traffic tickets, towing, or any other expenses incurred during or as a result of volunteer activities.

7. Voluntary Participation

You are volunteering of your own free will, without pressure or promise of compensation, and you may choose to end your participation at any time by notifying us.
